Controversial Sri Lankan monk Gnanasara Thera continues to receive state recognition as evident by pictures posted by Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake in social media.
Pictures of a meeting which he held with Bodu Bala Sena Secretary Gnansara thero at Ministry of Agriculture was posted this morning.
The monk and BBS has been inciting hatred against religious minorities resulting in intermittent attacks on churches, mosques and Muslim owned businesses since 2014. Arrest warrants against Gnanasara thero had been issued over the past years for failing to appear before courts but was always seen freely mingling with politicians of late.
The thero has been seen attending several high profile meetings with government officials in various capacities both in Sri Lanka and abroad, even during the recent visit by President Sirisena to Japan.
