Sri Lanka limits overseas arrivals due to rise in COVID-19 infections

Arrivals to Sri Lanka will have to be limited due to rise in COVID-19 infections from among those returning from abroad, said Dr. Sudath Samaraweera of the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health on Saturday (16).

Sri Lanka’s Army Commander warned there is a risk of COVID-19 entering Sri Lanka via returnees from overseas.

General Shavendra Silva who is also the Head of the NOCPCO said 78 people who returned from overseas tests positive for COVID-19 of Friday (16).

On Friday (16) 237 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.

138 of these infections were detected from the Peliyagoda Cluster and 21 were detected from the prison cluster.

    Please be good enough to permit who are on exit and some on emergence. I think you should give priority to the nationals than the foreigners as our nationals facing so many problems in accommodation, food as the employers have forced to leave .
