The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation of the arrest of Qatari citizen Mohsen Saleh Saadoun Al-Qurabi by the Saudi authorities.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “the arrest and detention of the Qatari citizen, Al-Qurabi by the Saudi authorities as he was returning from Yemen on April 21, where he visited his family and without committing any wrongdoing and without any charge, is a flagrant violation of national laws,The State of Qatar strongly condemns the arrest of one of its citizens in Saudi Arabia and international human rights charts “.
” Al-Qurabi, 63, suffers from chronic health problems that require continuous health care,” the statement said.
The Ministry’s statement called for a speedy release of Al-Qurabi , and held “the concerned authorities in Saudi Arabia their legal and moral responsibilities in maintaining his safety and health as well as to provide him with the necessary health care and to ensure all his legal rights to defend himself on allegations that might attributed to him and to enable him to contact his family, and the competent authorities in Qatar to communicate with him to check on his health.
The statement called for not resorting to arbitrary measures against people because of political differences.
