Qatar eases restrictions for traveling out of the country for residents

Qatar residents wanting to travel out of Qatar from Sunday (November 29) can automatically obtain an exceptional entry permit — which is required for re-entry — before they leave the country, the Government Communications Office (GCO) has said.

The travellers can print the permit from the Ministry of Interior’s Qatar Portal (Hukoomi) website anytime before their return, the statement added.

Qatar launched the “Exceptional Entry Permit” to help Qatar residents and their families stuck overseas due to COVID-19 enter the country. At present, the request can be made only after the traveller has exited the country, and only by the employers or sponsors.

However, from Sunday, travellers need not worry about the permits as it will be automatically issued.

The decision is in continuation of the procedures for gradually lifting the COVID-19 restrictions and based on general epidemiological indicators locally and internationally, and within the implementation of the previously announced travel and return policy to the State of Qatar.
The automatic exceptional entry permit service does not include residents who are currently outside Qatar, as they are still required to obtain the exceptional return permit via the “Qatar Portal” website if they wish to return to Qatar.
The application of the quarantine system for only one week after returning from travel, regardless of destination, provided that the home quarantine system is applied to those coming from the countries included in the Green List of the Ministry of Public Health.

The hotel quarantine system is mandatory for those coming from countries not included in the Green list, taking into account that the people who are subject to quarantine in the shared quarantine facilities will be the same for two weeks.
