#SriLanka|Two more arrests for promoting religious extremism, Colombo school warehouse sealed

Sri Lanka Police said Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) arrested two people for allegedly promoting wahhabism and extremism in Kattankudy.

The two men were allegedly arrested on charges of promoting extremism via social media.

The Police said the two suspects aged 27 and 28, are among a group of six individuals who had been deported from Qatar in November 2020.

In addition a warehouse of an International school in Wellawatte, Colombo has been sealed by the Police after books suspected to contain religious content were found to have been stored inside. The Wellawatte Police said nearly 15,000 books had been found inside the warehouse.

The books were found based on a tip off received by the Police claiming that it had been concealed in the warehouse.

The Wellawatte Police has taken custody of a few books to ascertain its content.

The warehouse of the International school has been sealed following the discovery of the books.
