Two individuals who were deported from the UAE recently were arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) for conducting various lectures on extremist ideologies for the Sri Lankan families who were residing in the UAE, according to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.
TID arrested the two suspects from Mawanella and Gampola after they were deported from UAE for propagating extremism, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The TID also seized laptops from their possession.
“Laptops used by the perpetrators have been analyzed and examined by the experts and the experts report has been received by the TID accordingly,” the Spokesman said.
He said that it had been revealed that these laptops contained various video footage and images which promote the ideology of extremism.
The TID is conducting further investigations.
