Sri Lanka to introduce 2-week work from home program

Sri Lanka government has moved to introduce a two-week work from home WFH program from Monday June 20 for the public sector, due to prevailing fuel shortages.

Public Administration Ministry to issue a circular on this. This will not be applicable to essential services.

Sri Lanka’s fuel stocks will last for about five more days, power and energy minister said.

The government already declared Friday a holiday for public offices and schools to curtail vehicular movement, leaving many roads in and around the capital Colombo deserted.

Sri Lanka’s economic activity is coming to a near standstill as the island nation, facing its worst financial crisis, runs out of fuel for transport and there’s little signs of fresh supplies coming in.
