The United States says a video circulating on social media depicting a State Department spokeswoman allegedly making a comment on Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is fake.
US Embassy spokeswoman, Nancy Van Horn, told the reporters that the video is doctored.
The US Embassy spokeswoman added that the actual remarks made by the State Department spokeswoman was not with regards to Rajapaksa.
The SLPP camp reacted with anger as the video made its rounds.
