Sri Lanka reports record 24 new COVID-19 patients

Sri Lankan health authorities confirmed 24 new coronavirus infections on Monday, the highest number of infections in a single day, hours after curfew to prevent spread of COVID19 was lifted in several areas.

The total number of cases in the country has now risen to 295, with the number of recoveries standing at 96.

The patients who tested positive for the virus today were among those who had been quarantined in Bandaranayake Mawatha in Colombo, director general of health services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

Health authorities on Monday said all residents of Bandaranayake Mawatha who were undergoing quarantine at their homes will be subjected to COVID-19 tests.
