Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nissanka scores a magnificent century short while ago becoming the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to score a century on debut in a test match.
22 year old Nissanka also played a crucial role guiding the Sri Lankan second inning for a fighting and comfortable total.
Nissanka reached the rare feat at the second inning of the first test match against West Indies currently being played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Nissanka faced 240 balls to reach his maiden century on debut, the feat last achieved by a Sri Lankan batsman 20 years ago, when he was a three year old toddler.
Sri Lanka was 429/5 short while ago with Nissanka not out 100 and Niroshan Dickwella not out 75.
Both have been putting an unbroken partnership of 170 runs for the 6th wicket.
Brandon Kuruppu (201*) in 1987 against New Zealand, Romesh Kaluwitharana 132* in 1992 against Australia and Thilan Samaraweera 103* in 2001 against India are the three other players scored century on debut for Sri Lanka before Nissanka.
